Coming Up Next: “Moral Majority” Drive?

I can’t believe this made it through a Democratic-controlled state Senate, even if the custom is to honor the requests of local legislators. A bill sponsored by Sen. Steve Newman, R-Lynchburg, would name a section of U.S. 460 in Lynchburg the Jerry Falwell Parkway, according to the News & Advance. The Senate approved the bill unanimously.

    I’ll sign on to this as long as we get to name another section the Macaca Expressway.

    Years ago, when his college was still growing out of mobile homes, Falwell prepared student admissions brochure.

    It showed the then Virginia National Bank building, which then dominated the downtown Lynchburg skyline.

    Someone, however, had airbrushed the “VNB” logo off the building, making it apparently part of the Falwell campus.
