Kudos for finding a way around comment spam. We had a huge problem with it at TNTDH and eventually just turned our comments off. Recently I’ve been looking for a way around that.

I’m constantly amazed at the ingenuity of these spammers and wonder what the incentives are to be so intrusive. Does anyone ever reward this behavior financially? Or is it a matter of parasitically eliciting “hits” that work their way into some financial benefit for the spammers? It sure is annoying. Worse than telemarketers. At least I don’t have to answer the phone.

Websites improve their Google rankings by increasing the number of in-bound links. You’ll notice that blog spam always includes a link back to a website. The spammers aren’t even trying to get you to read their stuff. They’re just trying to improve rankings. Disgusting parasites!
Remember the whole Jim Bakker/Jessica Hahn scandal? Lewis Grizzard, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, suggested that the appropriate punishment would be to put him naked, hands tied, in a locked room with a pork chop tied around his neck.
And four pit bull bitches with extreme PMS.
I’d like to do the same with spammers of all kinds.
