I’m excited to share some important news with you.
Today, the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy and the Yorktown Foundation for Public Policy are joining forces to create a new organization: Jefferson Forum.
This merger brings together the Thomas Jefferson Institute’s 30-year record of serious policy research with Yorktown’s newer energy and innovation in advancing education freedom and strategic initiatives.
Simply put, we are combining our strengths to build a bigger, stronger voice for freedom in Virginia.
The timing could not be more important.
With a progressive Governor and General Assembly rapidly pushing policies that expand government, raise costs, and weaken Virginia’s business climate, the Commonwealth is at risk of drifting away from the principles that made it a national leader in economic growth and opportunity.
Jefferson Forum is created to push back.
Our work will focus on the issues that matter most to Virginia’s future and are familiar to you through our past work:
• Lower taxes and economic freedom
• Reliable and affordable energy
• Education freedom and school choice
• Worker freedom and Virginia’s right-to-work tradition
I will be shifting to Vice President of Policy for Jefferson Forum, continuing the policy work you have enjoyed for many years. We are in the market for a new CEO and President.
Your support helped build the Thomas Jefferson Institute into one of the most respected policy voices in Virginia. Now, with Jefferson Forum, we are building the next chapter — one that is larger, stronger, and positioned to shape the policy battles ahead.
As we roll out Jefferson Forum, you will see changes in our branding, get updates on our new efforts, and continue to see our unique policy insights. The Sunday Summary will continue and we will return to having regular Federal Policy Dinners.
Your feedback as we roll this out is appreciated. As noted above, we must do better…as the next three and a half years will be critical to the future of the Commonwealth. Our children and grandchildren deserve a Commonwealth that is a great place to work, live, and raise their own families.
Derrick A. Max
