A few days ago, Professor Larry Sabato was breathlessly telling NBC 12 about Tim Kaine’s “hands down” victory at the Shad Planking. Apparently that wasn’t enough of a weathervane for the Sage of Charlottesville to give us a definitive status of the race. He’s teasing us.

Yes, the polls are a bit silly at this point. He’s watched enough VA races to know that. In a state with a high republican tilt, any GOP candidate is going to start off a bit ahead out of the gate.

I am of the decided view that the only way to win a Shad Planking is to plank more shad than the next guy. As a competitive activity, it leaves a lot to be desired.
