If you’re into media watching and substance, you can read One Man’s Trash right now or you can read Virginia Pundit Watch tomorrow in the new issue of the Bacon’s Rebellion e-zine. Or you could do both.

Hey Trashman — otherwise known as the honorable, Norman Leahy!
Excellent ‘Good Copy’ concerning Tim’s Water Boys. Exactly what’s up with Democratic candidate Tim ‘the choirboy’ Kaine and his surrogates?
Last year, Tim ‘the choirboy’ Kaine of the Commonwealth was singing a different tune as the keynote speaker at the first annual Equality Virginia dinner.
But last weekend, there were no Kaine campaign representatives, no Kaine buttons, no Kaine bumper stickers, no nothing Kaine,
… zero, nada, zilch!
Tim Kaine was AWOL at the Equality Virginia annual event. Rumors were floating about concerning a ‘Kaine for Governor’ out-of-state fund raiser held on a high mountaintop in a distant Northern Blue State.
Maybe, Kaine was in Vermont’s Green Mountains with Howard Dean and company?
While his counterpart, Jerry Kilgore, was racking up more ‘NASCAR DAD’ voting points at the Bristol race track. It was like Tim ‘the choirboy’ Kaine disappeared off the face of the earth with no newspaper, radio or TV coverage.
Even the RaisingKaine.com well was running dry for legitimate news.
But then a well-connected Gay & Lesbian lobbyist advised the Blue Dog that Tim Kaine was probably bowling in downtown Richmond with his buddy Chap Petersen that evening.
Believe it or Not: The Blue Dog heard those Democratic bowling balls were electronically programed to steer right down ‘the center’ of the bowling alley.
Occasionally, those bowling balls would drift to the political gutter, when those ‘altered boys’ chatted about their religious persecution at the hands of the Republican Party of Virginia and Kilgore for Governor campaign.
Stay tune for another Sunday edition of the 2005 Democratic ‘transparent values’ campaign as we poise the burning bush question:
Ahem … Are Kaine’s campaign issues qualifying as bowling strikes, or gutter balls?

Steve: Do Democrats have to sell out their base to win statewide in Virginia? Probably.
I’m a bit confused on your views on Kaine…I recall this from a column of yours a while back:
“The Blue Dog personally views Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine as a moderate-to-conservative politician.
Kaine has never been an Amway Christian, nor does he hold a lifetime membership to the C-E Club (i.e., only attending church service on Christmas and Easter holidays).”

Paul, must I explain everything in detail?
Here’s the question:
In 2004, Lt. Gov. Kaine attend the EV dinner where he tells Gay & Lesbians he doesn’t support same sex marriages, but will support civil unions and contractual agreements.
Where is Tim “the choirboy” Kaine and his Faith-based campaign this year?
The rule of thumb: Hit the road early to avoid the crowds along with the media attention and the any future Ray Allen and Scott Howell direct mailing campaigns
(Say amen and pass the cornbread said the Artful Dodger while bowling for dollars)
In fact, only one Democratic statewide candidate for office attended the EV event with 1200 potential primary voters — For the record: Kaine, Byrne, Puckett, Petersen and Deeds are missing in action.
The exception to the rule: Viola Baskerville attends the EV event.
(Viola Baskerville is running to win a Democratic primary, while the other candidates are running from gay and lesbian issues)
The designated hitter rule: Creigh Deeds volunteers were reported outside convention hall on the other side of the street collecting petition signatures.
(Apparently, it’s a one way street to the attorney general office from Bath County)
The rule of law: Phil Puckett, Chap Petersen and Creigh Deeds vote in favor of anti-gay & lesbian marriage constitutional amendment along with last year’s HB 751.
(These candidates are out of sight, out of mind — but still want G&L support and votes)
The ‘out-of-the-office’ excuse: Leslie Byrne
(She was probably attending a cell phone spamfest that weekend)
The undercover rule: Gov. Warner
(Surprise! The Governor attends the event, but is not listed on the EV program)
Matter of fact, the Richmond Times-Dispatch doesn’t include Mollycoddle’s unscheduled appearance in their newspaper report about the Equality Virginia and keynote speaker Julian Bond who spoke later that night.

I guess he’s just anticipating the color fliers of men kissing that conservative groups will send by direct mail.

May I take back anything I’ve ever said about the Blue Dog that was less than positive?
I’m an enthusiastic fan of the Blue Dog now. Keep up the good work.
As for the “Trashman,” Norman is the secret weapon of the Old Dominion Blog Alliance. I’m certainly glad that he’s in my corner.

Hey Blue Dog!
I enjoyed your blog posts, and you are tuned in to the right station regarding the missing Democrats. However, I have it on good authority that Tim was actually in orbit around the moon Titan looking for signs of life which were not apparent in his campaign here on earth.
However, there will be a ‘Propertyowners Pandering’ Town Hall Forum at the Higher Education Center in the Star City next Monday evening. I may or may not go …
Best,
a Democrat who rents
