That would eliminate most of the Democrats who are beholden to the teachers’ unions.

Gov. Youngkin can present it accurately as a civil rights issue, which it most certainly is. Such an initiative will try to help poor Black and Hispanic kids whom the current system does not serve.
It will be at least illustrative to see Senate and House Democrats pick a side and vote. Democrats in the Senate will need their entire caucus to kill it.

teacher’s unions will fight tooth and nail against this…as well as all of the administrators and ‘special ed’ types who feel they ‘know the right way to teach’…of course they’re efforts over the years have been pathetic. Local ‘liberal’ school boards will also fight against this because they are part of the problem.

See my answer to DJ above. A bill to change charter school law to the model bill in order to help poor Black and Hispanic children will present a defining dilemma to Democrats.

After reading your recent posts, I have been persuaded to abandon my prior belief that charter schools could be “home-grown”.

I think you are correct. Success requires levels of vision, professionalism, experience and money that a group of parents, however well intentioned, simply cannot muster.
