The way I read this, the robotic system is $12k – $15k per space – in addition to whatever the space costs, however you may save some ofg that cost by using less space. If it costs you $12k to save $10 k pers space, that is probably a losing proposition, except for the accelerated depreciation.

Accelerated depreciation is made that way for a reason: it applies to systems that wear out or become obsolete. And boy, would you hate to be invested in one of these systems and have the company go belly up: no parts, no maintenance.

If your space has to go underground, it probably has to go underground with either system, even so, at the high end of construction costs, this might make some sense.

I can’t tell if that price includes the cost of the elevator, but it sounds like not. That is going to mean either two elevators, or more likely an elevator AND a ramp, for the fire department.

Sounds like a hard sell to me.

what I got out of this was …. why do we need parking garages in new urban areas to start with?

it’s sort of a dumb question in a way but it points out that urban areas still depend on cars that move people… without cars and parking…what would happen to urbanized areas?
