Interesting list of earmarks. I was disappointed to see that no boodle was allocated to Bacon’s Castle. If any historic site in Virginia is deserving of pork, it would be Bacon’s Castle.

C’mon!! Pork atop pork?

“Why should the taxpayers of Virginia be expected to pay for an indoor swimming pool for Chesapeake residents?” Because one or more Chesapeake legislator made it a contingency for a yea or nay on some other issue. Vote trading. Next question?
Living in a glass house on this one, given work done for various clients over the years.

The line below the pool is $6.6M for two boat ramp maintenance projects (not construction but maintain) in Virginia Beach and seems way out of line. Can think of a lot of items in Virginia Beach at a much higher priority than two boat ramps (and am a boater in Virginia Beach).

The funding was for maintenance and improvements at two boat ramps owned by the city.

It’s all decimal dust, of no significance in the scope of the budget and mostly going for good things.
Years ago the woman running our trade association was a friend of the Gov and his wife. She would go to dinner with them and viola money would show up in the budget for rehab services. After those 4 years of getting lazy folks had to relearn the legwork required with individual legislators to get minor budget items included.

Wonderful work, Dick. Some of these organizations will see their names in my columns this year. The fact that they get state money will be a feature.

@disqus_FMFCn3ile7:disqus Since you don’t live in Chesapeake or understand, both D’s and R’s approved of this for very good reasons. PS Don’t call Chesapeake racists ever again, since you disprove of this “pork”.
