Blog Reporters

In the Jim Bacon blogging “you ain’t seen nothing yet” category are two posts showing enterprising reporting that you won’t find in mainstream media outlets.

Over at Commonwealth Watch, Russ Potts has apparently been caught in a huge lie over his claim that he opposed the 2001 transporation referendums. Reporters besotted with Potts probably won’t run with this information as it conflicts with their carefully constructed storyline.

Richard at Northerncrown attended a Manassas Battlefield By-pass public hearing and comprehensively categorized the comments, instead of highlighting a few as most print reporters are forced to do.

Bloggers can do original reporting and these are two great examples.

Will: I find it very frustrating that more and more of these bloggers fail to identify themselves by name. I simply cannot trust someone’s postings that doesn’t have the decency or conviction to identify him/herself to the world.

I seriously suggest that here at Bacon’s Rebellion we stop mentioning any blogs that don’t identify their contributors by name (along with a minimum profile).

I know that you’ve expressed concerns before about posters who comment anonymously. I agree, but I find it even worse when the contributors behind a blog try to hide behind a veil of anonymity. In my humble opinion, their blogs are no better than unsubstantiated gossip–no matter how relevant their content otherwise.

    My two cents worth…

Blogging has become a worldwide political phenomenon. The recent Time magazine reports that the success of Weblogistan has mad Persian a tie with French for the second most actively used language in the blogosphere. Only here can Persian citizens speak their minds, and even then they must use technology to avoid persecution for antigovernment criticism.

The next time you meet an American serviceman, look him in the eye and say thank you: he’ll understand, even if you don’t explain about the Wiccan prayers.

Phil, the idea of โ€œblog reportingโ€ is weโ€™re supposed to present more information than the MSM. The links are provided for you to check for yourself. I say Potts stretched the truth. Click on the AFP article and read it. Then click on the Leesburg Today article and read it.

Doesnโ€™t matter if you know who I am or not, the facts are provided for you to decide. So long as โ€œpoint-counter pointโ€ is provided there is not โ€œunsubstantiated gossipโ€.
