I like Sandbridge as well as Emerald llse.
Dang it though, not chillin’ with you guys.In fact it’s hot here in NoVA, just checking Dominion’s web page and they called a “Smart Cooling Rewards” day, so that means they turn off my A/C from 3-6PM and I get $40 for allowing that when they need to do it. Ah yes, startin’ to feel the chill here at 620PM…oh yeah, Chillin now.

on electricity, interesting Letter to the Ed from Dominion in FLS today:
” In energy policy, Virginia is not California”

” Virginia is not California. The key distinction allowing our customers affordable and reliable electricity is the regulatory approach installed, in part, in response to the fiasco of electric deregulation in California and other states.
When Virginia’s reregulation of electric utilities took full effect in July 2008, our typical residential customer paid a monthly bill of $107. Today that bill is $116—an increase of less than 1 percent annually.”

Unstated is that Virginia probably uses more elec than Ca. so the average bill is not the same. I do agree Virginia is not anything like Cali, we have a totally different situation. It is not as easy for us to do renewable. Environmentalists skip that…they say everyone can do it: it is easy and it is free, actually pays us money.

Sandbridge is the least commercialized east-coast beach I’ve seen, a wonderful place for families to spend time together. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.

Growing up in Virginia Beach one of my favorite places to be was Sandbridge.

It was fun back in the day when you would deflate the old bias belts on the 1962 Rambler American to 20 psi and head out south on the sand with the boards in the back.
I don’t think they let you do that anymore. Probably a good thing.

The year I got my driver’s license was one of the last years the beach was open to everyone for driving – I’m sure you know you could drive on the sand all the way to the outer banks in NC. Shortly after I started [legally] driving access became by permit-only, for residents who needed to use the beach to reach their properties. My first vehicle was a 1957 Jeep so I made good use of the ability to drive on the beach for as long as I could.
I have not paid attention to it in about three decades so I would assume it’s completely banned now.

Legally driving?
When I was 14, a friend, same age, bought a Honda motorcycle, a 125 or 2-something. We spent two hours making a license plate. Damned good job too. Rode it for a week or two before we were stopped.
When the cop realized it was a hand painted plate, he followed Kelly home and took the plate off the bike saying, “This one’s going up on the wall at the station.”

I dunno about Virginia! I was in NC in January and saw cars on the beach at Corolla…
