    I think I can summarize.
    1) These facilities employ nurses and doctors whose objective is to provide care and comfort in the end and near end stages of life.
    2) These facilities are designed to change a mix of your assets and public assets into their assets.
    3) There are State and Federal laws, regulations, and entities that, either by design or malfeasance, prevent you from maximizing one while minimizing the other.

And yes, you’ve served up an interesting and tasty platter of information.

Actually, let me correct a couple of possible misconceptions.
      1. Doctors are on call but not onsite. Registered nurses run the operations.
      2. Skilled nursing facilities are designed to make you well after a trauma – usually surgery – and send you home. At any age. They are supported by insurers to avoid the much higher costs of remaining in the hospital. Some are better at it than others. If you have Medicare, it pays in full for 20 days of SNF and then you owe your copay for the next 80 days, at which point Medicare bows out. One hundred days of SNF requirement happens, but very seldom. If you have private insurance or Medicaid, you need to check on your coverage for SNFs.
      3. Nursing facilities (NFs) are the ones that require self-pay or private long term care insurance until Medicaid kicks in.

Rehab vs. whatever. Because of the Moms, I am only familiar with facilities with the locks on backwards. Both were 5-star, but you STILL don’t want to be there. AFV II did have great food!

AFV II was an excellent choice.

Except for JJAS, aka summer. Hell has a lot in common with San Antonio. 10 years from now things will start getting really, really bad. You’re a Boomer premmie. There’s a boatload of bad health coming just behind you.
