I’m surprised they’re only asking for $3.8 billion. What happened to Waler Stosch’s $6.0 billion in unmet needs?

Of course the spending bills are a travesty, and a certain amount of indignation is appropriate. Before we bring out the tar and feathers, though, I have a question: How much of this stuff will get enacted? How many of these bills are submitted simply to assuage constituents with the patron knowing full well they won’t get voted out of committee?

Ultimately, what counts is the spending levels in the final appropriation bill. Am I missing something?

  5. You’re right. And while I disagree with the elimination of the car tax, at least the House Republicans are forcing the Governor and Senate to come up with a legit tax refund…otherwise all of this money might get spent.
