The Carnival is in Town

Commonwealth Conservative

is hosting “Carnival of the Vanities,” a rotating blog spotlight that has been running for over two years. If you’re interested in the breadth and depth of the national blogosphere, this is a great place to browse.

Hosting the Carnival is quite a coup for John Behan and he uses his role of master of ceremonies to provide visitors with a very nice introduction to Virginia bloggers.

  1. Thanks for the link.

Late last night, I decided that this would be a good opportunity to introduce everyone to the fine blogs we have here in the Commonwealth. There’s a lot of blog talent here, and I want to do what I can to boost the Virginia blogosphere.

John, I liked your Virginia blog round-up. I agree: There’s a lot of blog talent. If there’s any way that Bacon’s Rebellion can cooperate to help promote the Virginia blogosphere, I’m all ears. Maybe it’s time for a Virginia blogger conference. It would be nice to get to know each other personally. And it would be cool if we could figure out ways to cooperate. Just a thought.

John, you are not only the “Instapundit” of Virginia bloggers, you are now the pied piper, too.

Thanks for your tireless promotional work on behalf of all of us.

  4. Ha! Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Jim, I’m very interested in trying to find ways for more cooperation among those of us in the Virginia blogosphere. I’ve been a proponent of a Virginia blogger conference for some time, and Will and I (among others) have discussed it at length over at Commonwealth Conservative.

I hope things like the roundup I did with the Virginia blogs (which the real Instapundit just linked to, by the way) is evidence of my goals. I see the potential power blogs can have on politics and opinion in Virginia, and I want to do what I can to push that process along.

A rising tide lifts all ships. I don’t consider Bacon’s Rebellion (or SST or One Man’s Trash) to be competition for me. It’s not about me. It’s about advancing the conversation and having a real impact in Virginia.

So, anytime I have the opportunity, I’m happy to promote Virginia blogs. We have a great group of bloggers here, and I’m not vain enough to think that I’m the only one worth reading.
